Online Meetings & Tuition
Q. How do I book a free meeting or a lesson?
New students can start by booking a free 15-minute meeting through the booking system. Existing students can also use the booking system to book their next lesson.
Q. Where do the meetings and lessons take place?
Meetings and lessons take place online by video call. During lessons, we'll also use an interactive whiteboard to work through explanations, examples and exam questions together. You'll receive the information you need to join when you book.
Q. What should I expect from tuition?
Lessons are personalised around what you need most. We might begin by reviewing a topic or method, before working through carefully chosen questions and progressing towards exam-style problems. Closer to exams, lessons can also focus on specific questions or areas you've identified during your revision.
Q. Why 1-1 tuition?
1-to-1 tuition gives us the time to focus on exactly where you need support. We can explore difficult ideas in depth, practise the key skills and then apply them to unfamiliar exam questions, adjusting the pace and level of challenge as we go.
Q. What do I need for a lesson?
You'll need a computer or laptop with a reliable internet connection, microphone and ideally a webcam. I also recommend having a calculator, pen and paper available. Everything else needed for the online lesson will be explained when you book.
Q. Will I receive a reminder?
Yes. You'll receive an email reminder before your scheduled meeting or lesson.
Q. What levels of education do you teach?
I specialise in A Level Maths, Further Maths and Physics. I can also support students with some undergraduate-level Maths and Physics topics where they fall within my areas of expertise.
Q. Which exam boards do you cover?
I have experience teaching across the major UK exam boards, including Edexcel, AQA and OCR. Lessons are tailored to the specification and requirements of the student's particular course.
Q. How can I get the most out of private lessons?
Coming prepared with topics, questions or areas you'd like help with allows us to make the best use of lesson time. Where possible, I recommend focusing on a small number of areas in each lesson so we can develop a strong understanding rather than rushing through lots of different topics.
Q. Do you have experience supporting students with additional learning needs?
Yes. I have experience teaching students with a range of additional learning needs and can adapt the pace, explanations and structure of lessons to suit the individual student. If there is anything that would help you learn more effectively, we can discuss this during the free meeting.
Q. How often should I have a lesson?
This depends on your goals, current level and how much time we have available. Many students have a regular weekly lesson, while others book additional support when needed. We can discuss what would be most appropriate during the free meeting.
Q. How are sessions tailored to my needs?
We'll discuss your goals, strengths and the areas you'd like to improve. Lessons can then be adapted as we go based on your progress, upcoming exams and any topics or questions you're finding difficult.
Q. Can my parent(s)/guardian(s) join the free meeting?
Absolutely. Parents or guardians are very welcome to join the free meeting, and I'm happy to discuss goals, progress or any questions they may have.
Q. Can I contact you between lessons?
Yes. Regular students can contact me between lessons with quick questions about homework or something they'd like to cover in their next lesson.
Q. How much does tuition cost?
1-to-1 tuition is £49 for a one-hour lesson. The initial 15-minute meeting is free.
Q. Can I book a regular weekly lesson?
Yes. Regular lesson times can be arranged, subject to availability. We can discuss this during your free meeting or once you've started tuition.
Cancellations & Rescheduling
Q. What is your cancellation policy?
Lessons can be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations or changes made with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged at the full lesson rate.

Yes. Lessons can be rescheduled through the booking system with at least 24 hours' notice, subject to availability.
Payment
Q. How do I pay for lessons?
Lessons booked through the website are paid for securely when booking. If I arrange a lesson for you directly, I'll send you a payment link.
Payment is required at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson.
Q. What payment methods do you accept?
Payments are processed securely online. Major debit and credit cards are accepted.
Security & Safeguards
Q. Are you DBS checked?
Yes. I am DBS checked and can provide confirmation upon request.
Progress & Independent Practice
Q. How can students get feedback on their progress?
I provide ongoing feedback throughout tuition based on the student's understanding, confidence and performance on practice and exam-style questions. Students and parents are also welcome to ask about progress at any time.
Q. Do you provide any assessments?
I don't routinely use separate formal assessments, as progress is monitored throughout lessons. Where useful, I can recommend exam questions or papers to complete under timed conditions to help identify strengths, areas for improvement and current exam performance.
Q. Do you provide work between lessons?
Yes. Where appropriate, I can provide or recommend practice questions and exam-style problems to work on between lessons. This is particularly useful for reinforcing what we've covered and identifying anything that needs further attention.
